SWIMMERS NEWS

Dave does his first olympic triathlon.

At the start of 2023 I set myself a target of an olympic distance triathlon but was a very bad swimmer. I could manage a length or two of freestyle and suffered from panic with my head under water. Weekly group lessons and a couple of 1-1 lessons with Gayle have helped me conquer my anxiety and become a much better swimmer (still a work on progress). I did the 1500m swim at Hever Castle tri in September 7 mins faster than my target time and actually enjoyed it! Gayle is a great coach and it's a very supportive group.

January 5th 2023

Robin swims the Serpentine Swim.

I have been training with GV3 for a couple of years now and wanted to push myself in an open water event. I got a place on the Swim Serpentine 2 miler in Sept 2023 and my weekly swim drills along with visits to open water sites near home helped me build technique, endurance and confidence to complete 3,200m - on fact in training I managed 4km, so obviously the next goal is a 10km!
Thank you to Gayle and the GV3 coaches for supporting my ongoing swim journey!

Amy swims the Serpentine too!

" I had been swimming at school with Gayle Vickers for many years and decided to take part in Swim Serpentine this September to push myself in my first open water event. I got a place in the Swim Serpentine 1 miler and swam and raised money for the Alzheimer’s society. I visited Quay Swim first with Miss Vickers alongside coming to the Tuesday evening sessions. My next goal is to hopefully do the 2 mile swim next year! Thank you to Miss Vickers and her team for supporting me".

Norm completes his 70.3

Norm achieved amazing results in his Ironman 70.3!  What an incredible achievement.  The hard work he put in through his swimming, cycling and running training throughout the year is to be commended!  you smashed it Norm!!!

Norm is hoping to sign up for a 70.3 (Belgium, September next year)!

Drew qualifies for British Triathlon Age group in European long distance triathlon 2024
I started with GV3 12 months ago as a very slow and inefficient swimmer. The lessons I had gave me the confidence & foundations to build technique and endurance. I’ve still a lot to improve on in my swimming but making the GB Age-group triathlon team in my first year of competing wouldn’t have been possible without coaching lessons from GV3.
